Munich, Germany

My vacation last week had an interesting start. I was supposed to make a quick stop in Munich to catch a flight over to Barcelona. Due to it being a long weekend in Germany, there was an overbooking in my transfer flight and I was offered a deal: if I decided to spend the night in Munich, I'd receive a free night in a nearby hotel, taxi, dinner and breakfast, and a few hundred euros in cash!

Because I had studied German in high school and college, Germany had long been a place I had hoped to visit. And since I was relatively low on cash and on an adventure anyway, I gladly accepted. I was fortunate to meet a friend from Italy who also decided to stay. He provided me with some great tips on places to check out in Barcelona, so overall I'd say I made the right choice (for once).
