A DAY OF REVELATIONS

I've come to the realization that my use of this site has mainly consisted of posting events and/or feelings that only I (and maybe a couple others) care about. Well, today I've decided to try and change that.

It's past 6:00 AM as I write this, and I've been up all night reading, thinking and also re-discovering my passion for writing. Recently, my favorite topic has been the world of soccer. Even though soccer is my favorite thing in the world, it's not the only thing that matters to me. I've discovered it's actually the best thing I have to distract me from the realities of our world.

The health of my family, loved ones and my self are the most important thing. Coincidentally, it seems that health, and in particular our nation's health care system, is also a priority being frequently discussed. Our President seeks support for his reform, the Republicans criticize him, and the remaining people in Congress and the media are stuck in the middle praying for bipartisanship to save the day.

But what's really being accomplished with all this arguing and media coverage? Absolutely nothing. See, the problem we have is much larger than a Republicans vs Democrats debate. The problem we have are both Republicans and Democrats and to put it more simply, the greed of the evils influencing decisions in government.

But before I continue, in the words of Obama, "Let's be clear". This is not a political rant or conspiracy theory post, this is an attempt to make you aware of the biggest problem we have. I ask you to please put aside the false information you hear on the news and critically think about our current situation. All of the major problems occurring both domestically and abroad are caused by the greed of the wealthy people and private sectors making decisions on our behalf in this so called "democracy".

This is not a personal opinion or stupid chain email type comment. This is based on information that is available to us, but we choose to ignore. We're too brainwashed and controlled by commercials and the media to the point where we become materialist and only believe what we see and hear on TV. I say "we" because I'm guilty of this too, but it's almost impossible to avoid. In fact, Advertising and Marketing companies are actually trillion dollar businesses designed to control what we should believe.

Unfortunately, our opinions of the world are also conditioned. Why do you think we're involved in these wars? Why do we kill hundreds of people (especially children) on a daily basis? Why do we build secret military bases all over the world? These are not right or left winged political ideologies. This is not material from a Michael Moore film. I'm not making this up, these are facts that we have access to, and it's up to us to seek and read the information to learn about the truth. But we're all too busy with our Twitters, Facebooks and TV shows. The real enemies are the people telling us who and what our enemies are.

My intention is not to change what you believe, or to tell you how to live your life. That decision can only be made by you. All I would like is for you to think. And I also want to leave you with a few questions:

What do you believe in?
What credible evidence do you have to support your beliefs?
Why are you and I here on earth?
Is our purpose to get school degrees and become wealthy in monetary and material possessions? If so, what happens after we achieve them?
If our minds are controlled and conditioned to ignore what's truly important, are we truly free? ...
